Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines, the KMC Foundation recognized the risk of perinatal transmission of the disease to premature/ small babies and newborns in general, as well as the risk to the healthcare professionals caring for them. It was along this line that the neonatal aerosol intubation box project was conceptualized and launched in the first week of April.
With support from family and friends, funds were raised to deliver 210 boxes to 144 hospitals nationwide, upon request of Neonatologists in key hospitals around the country. The project is currently on-going with fresh funds from donors, in order to supply other hospitals who expressed their need for the box. Distribution of the boxes, is made possible through the Armed Forces of the Philippines, who also delivers essential goods, medicines and other equipment nationwide.
